Hey all, I thought this would make a nice little discussion to get us going again.

What are your feelings about writing in the first person, second person, and third person? Do you have any preferences? Dislikes? Comments?

Personally, I find that writing first person comes the most naturally. Perhaps this is because I never really was into those "Jane did this, then Jane did that" storytelling types as a child. Most of my writing was written for reflection (go the journal we had to keep in yr 7 english), and was rather a personal 'me', 'I' kind of affair.

Second person is notoriously hard for me. More often than not, it just doesn't flow, or else seems too contrived. Kind of like the 'peeper tom' atmosphere. Very few writers manage second person successfully.

Third person is the other type. I can't really comment on this, because I think I've only written two pieces using third person lol.

So now onto you guys.

Third Person: i love this style...and it's usually the tense in which i write my stories. it makes it easy for me to dip into each of my characters' minds with careful detachment. ;] but i still need a LOT of work. =[ lol.

Second Person: meah. i don't really have much to say about this tense. i don't think i've read any good ones, and murder mysteries kinda bore me. ^^"

First Person: garh! the hard, popular tense! can't do it. somehow, i make all the 'i' characters very confusing, and their thoughts always run in circles with no definite conclusions. and always, always, their personalities start to become mine. doh.

hlep. lol...must. practice. writing.
